Queensland’s First Home Buyer Grant Doubles Up for Aspiring Homeowners!

Exciting Development for First-Time Buyers in Queensland

In a significant move to support aspiring homeowners, the Queensland Government has decided to double the First Home Owner Grant*, elevating it to an impressive $30,000 for eligible first home buyers.

This announcement brings a wave of optimism for first home buyers in Queensland, making your home ownership dream more attainable than ever before. The increased grant, now standing at $30,000, is applicable to eligible homeowners entering into contracts on or after Monday, 20 November 2023 until 30 June 2025.

Understanding the First Home Owner Grant
The Queensland Government is committed to helping Queenslander’s get into their own home sooner with a double up of the First Home Owner Grant.

This initiative is designed to provide an extra financial boost to eligible first home buyers, facilitating their entry into the property market. Eligible buyers can now receive $30,000 towards the purchase of a new house, unit, or townhouse, and the flexibility extends to options like buying off the plan or constructing a new home.

Eligibility Criteria
To take advantage of this increased grant, interested individuals must meet the following key criteria:

  • Buying or building a brand new home valued at less than $750,000, encompassing land and any contract variations.
  • Be an Australian citizen or permanent resident, aged 18 years or older, with this being the first residential property owned in Australia.
  • Comply with the residence requirements after settlement, including to reside in the new home for the first year as homeowner.
